James Dicken

Creative Director

James has just over 20 years’ experience in the design industry and has been a part of the Philosophy family for the past 10 years.

Before joining us, James began his design career at a small agency called Fahrenheit where he worked on several D&AD award-winning projects. After finely honing his typographic skills at Williams & Phoa, he became senior designer at Designhouse where his clients included ABN Amro Bank, BT, British Steel and Jersey War Tunnels, which was a commended finalist in the DBA Design Effectiveness awards.

As Creative Director, James’ understated, laid-back manner belies a razor-sharp attention to detail and a desire for his team to consistently exceed client expectations. James has been the creative drive behind a wide range of design projects from branding, annual reports, corporate literature, environmental graphics and digital media for clients like Catalyst, Gerald Eve, McLaren Group, Watson Farley & Williams, Talon and Quintain.

James fuels his creativity by listening to an eclectic range of music, often introduced to the studio with varying degrees of success. A keen vinyl collector, he enjoys nothing more than sharing the musical experience with friends at gigs and concerts or at festivals with his wife Vicky and their two daughters.
